Thursday Session With Angle White, Zilker Belts, & Salt Lick BBQ

It’s 6am. The sun’s poking up, the birds are chirping (probably), and the kitchen crew starts the first cook of the day.

The smell of grapefruit fills the entire building. I say “probably” because I don’t get in until 9am. I do smell the fresh batch of ruby red grapefruit gummies, though.

Today is going to be a great day.

We strike off some early to-do’s. It’s now 10:30am and we’re setting up the studio for a Chill Country Session with Angel White in a couple of hours.

The new studio has a similar feel as the 100-year-old train station cargo room we were previously operating out of, but this one is only a couple months old.

We have plenty of outlets now. The AC actually works.

We’ve made it cozy with reclaimed barnwood from Dallas on the walls, rugs on the floor, artwork hanging, and a lot of dim lamp lighting.

It's 11am. I run by Salt Lick to grab close to 15 pounds of BBQ.

We usually don’t have a live audience for our Sessions, but our friends from Zilker Belts are dropping by today to discuss a potential collaboration.

I arrive back to the studio with the smoked meat and sides, and now the sweet aroma of grapefruit is dueling with the smokiness of the BBQ, ultimately losing the battle.

Wade and Ford of Zilker Belts are here, checking out the new place for the first time. Gathered around in the studio we update each other on business, passing around plates and food.

Our bellies get full.

It's noon. Angel White arrives. Guitar in one hand, Orange amp in the other.

He’s no stranger to Chill Country Sessions as he’s played a couple in the past. The guys at Zilker gift him the first ever Zilker Belts guitar strap. He decides to throw it on for the Session.

Everything is mic’d up. The amp is humming. The cameras are rolling. The audio is dialed.

Angel plays us his latest release, Lonestar Girl, as well as two unreleased songs — Buffalo and Wings on Fire.

It's 1pm and the Session is recorded.

Wade and Ford say their farewells, but Angel sticks around. We mix the audio from the session together — something that also never happens.

They sound damn good.

Madison snaps photos of the process, something we’re trying to get in the habit of doing. You’re viewing said photos in this email right now.

It's 2pm. Angel’s got to hit the road, but not without some gummies.

His personal favorite are the Apple Cinnamon Indica gummies. We load up his pockets with a fresh batch, and he loads up his truck.

You’ll see his Sessions come out on Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube real soon. Zilker Belts posted a sneak peek of their guitar strap on Instagram, as well as a sneak peek of the Session.

As far as the Chill Country Organic Gummies go, you know where to find them.

You can use code THURSDAY for 15% off your next order. Grab some gummies here.

Not a bad Thursday.
